Reverend John Newton diary, 1781-1790.

The collection consists of a diary of Reverend John Newton from 1781-1790 (with gaps). The diary discusses mainly routine matters such as hunting, farming, and family health, and includes some information on Newton's services as a physician and a minister, first in the Carolinas and then in northeast Georgia. There is also some mention of Indian relations in Jefferson County, Georgia near the Ogeechee River. The collection also contains some loose material relating to Newton's estate and medical accounts (1808-1809) and remedies recorded by Dr. Moses Newton, John Newton's son.
